89% Django Unchained

All Critics (228) | Top Critics (41) | Fresh (202) | Rotten (26)

Django Unchained is Tarantino's most complete movie yet. It is also his most vital. His storytelling talents match the heft of the tale.

Django Unchained has mislaid its melancholy, and its bitter wit, and become a raucous romp. It is a tribute to the spaghetti Western, cooked al dente, then cooked a while more, and finally sauced to death.

Genre-movie-mad writer-director Quentin Tarantino's foray into Western World is a pretty grave disappointment.

Wildly extravagant, ferociously violent, ludicrously lurid and outrageously entertaining, yet also, remarkably, very much about the pernicious lunacy of racism and, yes, slavery's singular horrors.

Quentin Tarantino no longer makes movies; he makes trailers.

Django Unchained is the most brutal film Quentin Tarantino has ever made. But the movie is also exciting and ironic and, at times, explosively funny: Even at his most serious, Tarantino can't help but entertain and show you a good time.

Tarantino is, in essence, a classicist who invests the bulk of his drama and tension in lengthy dialogue exchanges that are infinitely more compelling that his elongated sequences of cathartic violence.

Still wonderfully witty and violent sequences that only Tarantino could manage or dare.

This bloody, hilarious, shocking, and righteously angry film is the kind of great art and great trash [Tarantino] aspires to make.

...compulsively watchable for the majority of its (admittedly overlong) running time...

I had a good enough time to wish that it had been better.

Part-blaxploitation film, part-spaghetti Western and all-Tarantino, 'Django Unchained' comes charging at its audiences with guns a-blazin'. It's not quite up to par with 'Reservoir Dogs' or 'Pulp Fiction,' but it's still Tarantino - enough said.

Overlong, overblown and overly self-indulgent. But excess is what Tarantino does. And just as he won't put one word in his characters' mouths when he can have them utter 10; he won't dispatch a bad guy with one bullet when he can discharge a dozen.

It would seem that this film's irreverence isn't a case of didn't-try-can't-fail dismissiveness, but rather something more innocuous: it's simply the world interpreted through Tarantino's boisterous perspective.

The funniest western since Blazing Saddles, the bloodiest since The Wild Bunch and the most visually stylish since The Good, The Bad & The Ugly.

Guilty of almost every indulgence [Tarantino] has ever been accused of...but it's hard to hold it against him, when the results are this bloody good

Ultimately enjoyable, if a little underwhelming, if nothing else we can be grateful to Django Unchained for allowing the phrase "that's the worst thing since Quentin Tarantino's Australian accent".

Impolitic though it might be to suggest it, there's something extremely satisfying about the violence here-though, for my money, it resides less in seeing these racist thugs get their comeuppance, than in the director's staging of it.

it's fitting that one of the greatest American filmmakers of all time is using the western and blaxploitation genres to connect the enduring blemish on the American psyche - only to set loose a bad motherf*cker to set it right.

Thrilling, stylish, funny, brutal, superbly-acted, sharply written and wonderfully offensive.

Django Unchained is a joy. It's fun and foolish, unhinged and unapologetic.

Possibly Tarantino's most thoughtful and even political film to date.

Tarantino is starting to look more and more like an angry teenager in his bedroom going, "Wouldn't it be good if..."

Whereas there was savage beauty and irony in the '60-'70s violence of Penn, Peckinpah, and Leone, the coda of 'Django Unchained' is mere benumbing splatter.

It's a big, crazy, hugely entertaining, multilayered piece of filmmaking - a fierce but fiercely intelligent testament to Tarantino's frequently questioned filmmaking proclivities and certainly among the best films he's made.

Trazendo alguns dos melhores momentos da filmografia de Tarantino, ainda culmina em um cl?max longo e violento que certamente levar? os f?s do diretor a orgasmos de sangue.

PRETORIA, South Africa (AP) ? The defense and prosecution both completed their arguments Friday in Oscar Pistorius' bail hearing, with the magistrate soon to rule if the double-amputee athlete can be freed or if he must stay behind bars pending trial in the shooting death of his girlfriend.

The prosecution vehemently opposed bail to Chief Magistrate Desmond Nair in a case that has transfixed South Africans and brought international media attention to the nation's justice system and police capabilities.

Pistorius is charged with one count of premeditated murder in the Feb. 14 killing of Reeva Steenkamp. He says he accidentally shot her, thinking she was a dangerous intruder inside his home, lurking in a toilet stall off his bedroom.

Pistorius' hands trembled as he said "good morning, your worship" as the session began in Magistrate's Court in Pretoria, South Africa's capital. For the first time in the hearing, two representatives of the Steenkamp family were present in court, sitting behind and to the left of Pistorius in the public gallery.

Prosecutor Gerrie Nel called Pistorius' version that he shot Steenkamp accidentally improbable and argued that Pistorius did not have to have planned the killing for days in advance for it to be premediated.

"He planned it that night when she (Steenkamp) locked herself in (the toilet)," Nel said in response to a question from the magistrate on why Pistorius hadn't staged a break-in at his home to make his story look more believable. "The fact that we have only one survivor of that tragic night is difficult for the state."

Pistorius' defense lawyer, Barry Roux, brought up culpable homicide as a possible charge for the first time in the case when answering questions from the magistrate.

"He did not want to kill Reeva. He had no intent to kill Reeva," Roux said as Pistorius began weeping again ? like he has done for much of his bail hearing.

Roux said it was impossible for Pistorius, as famous as he is and with his prostheses, to escape South Africa before trial and bail should be granted.

"Let me tell you how difficult it is for this man to disappear from this world," Roux said.

Prosecutor Nel earlier countered that everyone, whether disabled or famous or otherwise different from the majority, should be treated equally under the law. Nel noted that WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is famous but is now holed up in the Ecuadorean Embassy in London to avoid extradition to Sweden to face sex-related charges.

Nair, the magistrate, will decide if Pistorius can be freed with conditions or if he is held until trial. Pistorius faces the sternest bail conditions in South Africa because of the seriousness of the murder charge, meaning his defense lawyers have to prove there is an "exceptional" reason for him to be freed.

Stephen Tuson, an adjunct law professor at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg and a practicing attorney, told The Associated Press that poor health, a weak state case or a disability could be reasons to grant bail to a person accused of murder. But the "exceptional" circumstances Pistorius would have to prove to be freed are not established absolutely by law and are applied considering the individual merits of each case.

"(The matter of exceptional reasons) is not defined," Tuson said. "We've had to have this concept expanded by the courts on a case by case basis."

Pistorius' defense has dedicated much of its argument in the bail hearing to questioning the state's case against Pistorius and trying to discredit the police investigation into Steenkamp's shooting. Lead investigator Hilton Botha was removed from the case Thursday following his bungled testimony for the prosecution and replaced by the South African police's top detective, Vinesh Moonoo ? who was in court Friday.

Defense lawyer Roux also stressed Pistorius' disability Friday and said it was one of the reasons why he couldn't easily flee the country.

"He cannot, cannot go unnoticed through airport security. When he goes through the security at the airport, there's every time a commotion because the system would react," Roux said. He added that Pistorius also needs medical treatment for his stumps and has to have his prostheses adjusted on a monthly basis.

In arguing against bail, Nel sought to portray Pistorius as a spoiled celebrity with an inflated sense of self who believed he was above the law. Nel also said selfishness could be driving expressions of remorse by suspects such as Pistorius.

"All that I feel sorry for is myself," Nel said of Pistorius. "I've shot her and my career is done."

Pistorius' longtime coach Ampie Louw had said before proceedings began that he is considering putting his runner back in training if he is granted bail to allow him to "get his mind kind of clear."

Louw said he realizes that the Olympic athlete might not be emotionally ready to give any thought to running.

"The change is that he is heartbroken, that is all," Louw said in the courtroom, surrounded by reporters and television cameras. "For me it is tough to see that. Not to be able to reach out and sit next to him and say 'Sorry, man, it was a terrible accident.' But I cannot do it, I must just sit here in court and that's all.

"The sooner he can start working the better," said Louw, who was the person who convinced the double amputee to take up track as a teenager a decade ago.

He has been held at a police station in Pretoria since last week, but suspects who are denied bail are typically held in a prison.

Roux argued on Thursday that the evidence backs Pistorius' statement that he shot through a toilet door at his home because he mistook Steenkamp for an intruder, killing her by accident.

"I think there will be a level of shock in this country if he is not released (on bail)," Roux said in court.

Opposing bail, Nel argued that Pistorius was too willing to shoot. The prosecution says Pistorius planned to kill his 29-year-old girlfriend, a model and budding reality TV star, after an argument in the early hours of Valentine's Day.

"The reason you fire four shots is to kill," Nel said.

Louw said he might put Pistorius ? who overcame the amputation of his lower legs as a baby to compete at last year's London Olympics ? back on a morning and afternoon training routine if he is freed, believing it might help him to be able to run track again.

"You must give him space," the coach said.

London Fashion Week 2013: Cara Delevingne's top Autumn/Winter catwalk looks

With her bubbly personality and strikingly good-looks, it's no surprise that the model is in high demand and every pop star wants to be her friend.

But as fashion week draws to a close for another season, we take a look back at Cara's best looks on the catwalk.

Kicking off day four of LFW, the 20-year-old strutted her stuff down the catwalk for Peter Pilloto.?

In a mix of bold and unusual prints, the Britsh model wore a geometric monochrome dress with a signature splash of yellow mustard.

ABOVE: Cara creates a more feminine look as she walks the catwalk for Matthew Williamson

Her second look demonstrated the season change as Cara wore a similar patterned outfit with a striking fur collar.

Two thumbs-up for the awesome prints Peter.

Next up was the catwalk for Matthew Williamson in a more casual-chic look.?

Starting in an over-sized aqua lace print top and pleated mustard skirt, we can't imagine Cara rocking a night out with Rihanna in this look.

ABOVE: The 20-year-old takes on a more edgy look for Topshop Unique

She later however, heated things up in a metallic silver pencil skirt which is definitely a look everyone will be trying to rock this season.

Topshop Unique's autumn/winter collection was more fun and edgy compared to the other looks as Cara worked her magic with these cool designs.

Her looks included a glitzy sequin two-piece and wet look skirt - very hot.

Cara also took to the catwalk for fashion designer Issa where the hot model couldn't have looked more sophisticated.

In a flowing feminine maxi and wide-brimmed hat, we're sure designer fan Kate Middleton would have loved the collection.

So with more then enough catwalks under her belt, we think it's fair to say that Cara is the face of LFW.

NYT says Tesla Model S review the result of shaky judgment, Musk calls it even

NYT Tesla Model S review the result of shaky judgment, not conspiracy

The dust-up over the New York Times' Tesla Model S review may have left no real winners, but that doesn't preclude at least trying to reach the truth. According to the newspaper's Public Editor, Margaret Sullivan, the final answer rests where it often does: in between the two extremes. Following interviews with driver John Broder, Tesla staff and others involved in the tale, the scrutineer believes the review was conducted honestly, but that improper decisions and less-than-precise notes led to the charging woes and accusations of deception that characterized the drive. Broder should have topped up the way the company recommends, but wasn't planning on dragging anyone through the mud, Sullivan says. Whatever you think of her verdict, it's enough for Tesla founder Elon Musk to relax -- he's already saying that the inspection "restored" his trust in the Old Gray Lady's integrity. About the only demand we have left is to get enough Supercharger stations that there's never a repeat incident.

Burger King takes down Twitter account after hack attack

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Hackers breached the Twitter account of fast-food chain Burger King, posting the online equivalent of graffiti and sometimes making little sense.

Burger King Worldwide Inc suspended its Twitter account about an hour after it learned of the attack at 12:24 p.m. EST (5:24 p.m. British time) on Monday, company spokesman Bryson Thornton said in an email.

"It has come to our attention that the Twitter account of the BURGER KING? brand has been hacked," the company said in a statement. "We have worked directly with administrators to suspend the account until we are able to re-establish our legitimate site and authentic postings."

Several tweets carried the logo of Burger King's larger rival McDonald's, but spelled the latter company's name incorrectly. Others sought to tarnish Burger King, the third-largest U.S. hamburger chain, and its employees.

"Just got sold to McDonalds," one tweet said, adding "FREDOM IS FAILURE".

Canada considers environmental activists terrorists

Common Dreams - The environmental activist movement in Canada has been targeted by the Canadian government as a threat to national security, according to documents recently released under a freedom of information law, the Guardian reports.

According to Jeffrey Monaghan of the Surveillance Studies Center at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, who obtained the previously unreleased government documents, security and police forces have been closely surveilling peaceful environmental activists, including many who are planning to attend the Washington DC Keystone XL Pipeline protest on Sunday.
"Any Canadians going to protest the Keystone XL pipeline in Washington DC on Sunday had better take precautions," Monaghan told the Guardian.

"Security and police agencies have been increasingly conflating terrorism and extremism with peaceful citizens exercising their democratic rights to organize petitions, protest and question government policies," Steven Leahy reports at the Guardian.

Small church group does 'mighty things' with soul food fundraiser

The aroma of green beans, cabbage and chicken filled John Wesley AMC Zion Church on Saturday. From the basement where the food was cooking, to outside where it wafted into the air, that aroma drew in people from the surrounding area to taste something different.

The food was part of the soul food dinner that has been going on at the church once a year for about 10 years.

Rev. Allie Harper Jr, who has been assigned to the church for the last 6 years, said that the dinner is something that the church does because it integrates the social life of the church with education about African-American roots.

Soul food, he said, came around because of how the African-American culture in the past survived on scraps while in slavery.

"Schools

don't focus a lot on African-American history," he said. "And food is part of our history."

Offered that afternoon was pig's feet, something that Harper said, are at the roots of soul food.

"Back then, they would go to the packing plants and get whatever they could," Harper said.

Vicki Rideout, the secretary treasurer of Women's Home and Oversees Missionary Society (WHOMS), which works closely with the church, was one of many volunteers helping to serve the 4 meats, 10 sides and dessert that the dinner offered for a price of $12.

Also among the food served that afternoon were collard greens, turnips, macaroni and cheese, sweet potatoes, fried chicken and black-eyed peas. However, Rideout said, the pig's feet are definitely the most popular.

"People come just for the pig's feet every year," Rideout said.

All the money raised from the event goes back to the community, she said, by the church sponsoring free dinners and giving out Christmas baskets. "We're a small group, but we hope we can do mighty things," she said.

Center of Scientology Israel Hosts Human Rights Forum

More than 100 guests representing a broad panorama of civic, community and religious groups filled the Alhambra Auditorium at the Center of?Scientology?in Tel Aviv-Jaffa December 20 for a forum held in observance of Human Rights Day.

The forum marked the 64th anniversary of the United Nations Universal Declaration of?Human Rights, a document of particular historical significance for Israel that applies all the more today. Eleanor Roosevelt, chair of the commission that drafted the document, stated on the occasion of its adoption by the United Nations General Assembly: ?Man's desire for peace lies behind this Declaration. Sefi Fichler, Director of Public Affairs of the Center ofScientology?in Tel Aviv, hosted the forum. Speakers hailed from the broad cultural and religious tapestry of the country, including an advisor to the Prime Minister on Bedouin affairs; representatives from the Ministry of Justice, the Israel Anti-Drug Authority, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the Lions Club, leaders of the Druze Community and other human rights advocates. The wide variety of topics they discussed all contributed to the central theme: peace and cooperation among all people.

5 killed as plane crash-lands in eastern Ukraine

By Richard Balmforth, Reuters

At least five people were killed when a plane carrying supporters to a European soccer match in eastern Ukraine overshot the runway and broke up when it attempted an emergency landing late on Wednesday, officials said.

The twin-engined Antonov turboprop was bringing 45 passengers and crew on a charter flight from the Black Sea coastal city of Odessa to Donetsk - most of them fans looking forward to attending a Champions League clash between the Ukrainian home team Shakhtar and Germany's Borussia Dortmund.

The emergencies ministry, quoted by Interfax news agency, said the aircraft overshot the landing strip at Donetsk airport which an eyewitness said was shrouded in thick fog at the time. It overturned and broke up.

Apart from the five people confirmed dead, 12 others had been injured, the ministry said.

Andriy Shyshatsky, head of Donetsk's regional administration speaking before a fifth dead was confirmed, said the majority of passengers had been saved.

"One person is visible in the wreckage, but we don't yet know whether he is alive or not. We are searching for one other person," Shyshatsky told journalists.

An airport source quoted by Interfax said a stewardess who had been at the rear of the plane was unaccounted for.

A minute of silence was observed for the dead at the start of the Champions League match.

There was no immediate word on why the flight crew had had to make an emergency landing. But a survivor of the crash, quoted by Interfax, said there had been a fire on board which had been brought under control.

This was not immediately confirmed by officials.

Duke takes down UNC on Coach K's 66th birthday

DURHAM, N.C. - With its star big man on the bench with foul trouble, Duke went small to beat its top rival - and one of its smallest players came up big.

The run that propelled the second-ranked Blue Devils to a 73-68 victory over North Carolina on Wednesday night started when Mason Plumlee sat down and backup guard Tyler Thornton warmed up.

"I think the hero for us this game was Thornton," coach Mike Krzyzewski said. "He would not let us lose."

Plumlee finished with his usual big numbers - 18 points, 11 rebounds - while Quinn Cook scored 18 points and Rasheed Sulaimon finished with 13 for the Blue Devils (22-2, 9-2 Atlantic Coast Conference).

But the contributions of Thornton couldn't be overlooked.

Thornton finished with nine points on three 3-pointers - or, as many points as he had in his previous three games combined - and two of those 3s came during the run midway through the second half that completely flipped the game's momentum.

"It's just the heart and the will to want to win," Thornton said. "Especially coming down the stretch, you've got to go all out and leave it on the floor, and I think we did that."

Duke shot 44 percent - 52 percent after halftime - and erased a slow start with that timely run and win its sixth straight this season and sixth in eight meetings in college basketball's fiercest rivalry.

P.J. Hairston matched a career high with 23 points and Reggie Bullock had 15 points with four 3-pointers for North Carolina (16-8, 6-5), which led for the first 26 minutes but went on to lose its second straight.

The Tar Heels were 13 of 23 from the free-throw line and missed 7 of 10 during a critical late stretch while falling to 1-4 this season against ranked opponents.

"If I knew how to fix the blessed thing, I would have fixed it," coach Roy Williams said of his team's struggles at the line. "The bottom line is, we didn't make free throws today. We're not a good free-throw shooting team in games."

Still, they trailed just 65-61 in the final minute and appeared to have gotten a stop by forcing Thornton to miss a long 3-pointer with the shot clock winding down. But Bullock fouled Sulaimon on the rebound, and the freshman hit both free throws with 37.5 seconds left.

Hairston hit a free throw on North Carolina's next possession to cut it to 67-62, but Plumlee countered with two free throws with 30.3 seconds left to make it a three-possession game.

RELATED: WEISS: DUKE BACK ON TOP OF UNC - AND POLLS

Seth Curry scored 11 points in his sixth straight double-figure performance against North Carolina.

The win was a nice present for Krzyzewski, who was celebrating his 66th birthday.

And an unorthodox move - putting one of the best big men in the nation on the bench, however briefly - wound up putting Duke ahead for the first time in this one.

Plumlee picked up his third foul 31 seconds into the second half and uncorked an untimely 20-foot jumper a few minutes later, prompting Krzyzewski to burn a timeout. He went to a smaller lineup, sitting Plumlee in favor of two power forwards, Amile Jefferson and Josh Hairston.

NFL News: Steelers Fear Mike Wallace To Sign With Browns

Mike WallaceFollowing a fourth season in the NFL, wide receiver Mike Wallace may have played his last game with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Wallace is widely considered one of the fastest and most talented wide receivers in the game. The Steelers wideout may not be in the conversation with some of the league?s elite like Calvin Johnson, Andre Johnson or Roddy White, but Wallace is still a promising prospect heading into free agency next month.

Although the wide receiver position took a hit with the retirement of Hines Ward before the 2012 campaign and injuries to Antonio Brown and Wallace during the regular season, the team remains content with Wallace leaving Pittsburgh via free agency. Much like the New England Patriots, the Steelers franchise is more than willing to replace players through the NFL Draft and with other free agents.

With Wallace leaving Pittsburgh, the Steelers may end up seeing their former star wideout two times a year with the Cleveland Browns likely ready to sign Wallace once available according to NFL.com:

The?Pittsburgh Steelers?have no plans to slap the franchise tag on wide receiver?Mike Wallace, which means that the free agent?s?days in Pittsburgh are numbered.

The news gets worse for?Steelers?fans. According to CBSSports.com?s Jason La Canfora,?many in the organization?believe the division-rival?Cleveland Browns?are Wallace?s most likely landing spot next month.

In 15 games during the 2012 season, Wallace caught 64 passes for 836 yards and eight touchdowns.

Wallace?s production fell off considerably in the receiving yards and receptions department in comparison to last season with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger getting Brown and Pro Bowler Heath Miller more involved in the offense this past season. Wallace was still one of Roethlisberger?s favorite targets in the end zone, but the veteran quarterback began to spread the football around a bit more and may have convinced others in the organization that Wallace was expendable and not worth a lucrative long-term contract.

Along with the Browns, Wallace may be pursued by the New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins among other teams looking for an upgrade at the wide receiver position in free agency.

Dropbox for Teams adds an admin console for cloud storage overlords

Although Dropbox made a concerted push into pro-grade cloud storage with Dropbox for Teams more than a year ago, it didn't have a truly centralized place for a team's overseers to keep tabs on everyone involved. An update today brings in a console to make sense of it all. Along with providing a much simpler at-a-glance view of goings on across an entire group, the console lets administrators tighten access limits from user to user: they can prevent people from using their personal smartphones and tablets with the corporate account, for example, and can ask certain people to sign in with two-factor authentication if there's more of a risk. The refresh might rain on the parades of those who want to use their Teams accounts for both work and play, but it's good news for companies that would rather not risk malware or other rude surprises.

Everything We Know About Twitter's Ads API - Business Insider

At the end of January, we told you that Twitter plans to launch its own Ads API ? an "application protocol interface" that would allow advertisers to run ads on Twitter automatically, at will ? sometime this quarter.

Details are leaking out about how the API will work, and what it might allow advertisers to do. There's a lot of speculation, too.

Here's what we know:

Adweek notes that Twitter has a huge incentive to develop an Ads API, because Facebook has earned billions from its Ads API, and that the API is the talk of the office internally:

... one source said Facebook makes twice the ad revenue from its API as from direct sales. Twitter seems very serious about an ad API?s potential. Mention of the ad API "is plastered over every single whiteboard in Twitter HQ," said one source.

TNW says that an Ads API will like mimic Google in the sense that advertisers will be asked to target users' presumed intent. In other words, if you tweet "I'm hungry!" you might be targeted with tweets or ads suggesting local restaurants.

We told you last year that intent is the hot spot for Twitter because the company doesn't know very much about its own users ? account holders are not asked for much information when they start using the service.

Mashable says Twitter could generate $70 million annually from the promoted trends it already runs, because it can command up to $200,000 per campaign.

AllThingsD notes that promoted trends are the default choice of Twitter advertisers because they're the one thing that all users see on any given day. "Advertisers are still trying to get their heads around paid Twitter messages."

Twitter has already written rules into its terms for developers to account for an Ads API:

Twitter Ads. Twitter reserves the right to serve advertising via its APIs ("Twitter Ads"). If you decide to serve Twitter Ads once we start delivering them, we will share a portion of advertising revenue with you per our then-current terms and conditions.

A Twitter engineer last discussed an Ads API with developers a year ago, noting only that Twitter didn't have one.

Twitter's advertising blog, however, recently played up its large mobile audience, which it claims are more interested in branded messages than average users:

The average Twitter user follows five or more brands. Users who primarily access Twitter on mobile are 96% more likely to follow 11 or more brands. They are also 58% more likely to recall seeing an ad on Twitter than the average Twitter user.

Monument Honoring Military Families May Take Root in Pinckney

Radio Station WHMI 93.5 FM -- News, Weather, Traffic, Sports, School Updates, and the Best Classic Hits for Howell, Brighton, Fenton, and the entire Livingston County, Michigan Area Monument Honoring Military Families May Take Root in Pinckney

2/12/13- Pinckney could become the home for a national monument and park honoring military families in the near future. The National Monument for Military Families Non-Profit Organization is asking the Village of Pinckney to donate a parcel of land for the development of a memorial park. The park will be called ?The Journey Garden?, because it will take visitors on a walk through the journey military families take when their loved ones are deployed. The monument, which will be the focal point of the Journey Garden, will stand 25 feet tall and will be made of bronze. Miniature replicas of the monument are available for purchase to aid fundraising efforts for the project at www.HonorMilitaryFamilies.com. The organization originally asked for 8 to 12 acres for the project, but presented a plan for a 29 acre park at last night?s village meeting. The village council is positive about the idea, but would like to research further into the land requested to ensure that the donation won?t restrict further growth in the village. The council will provide an update for the public and the monument organization at their regularly scheduled meeting on March 25th at 7:00 pm. (SO)
