Are There Special Programs For Disabled People Or Seniors To Get ...

questions

Q: I am disabled and my mom is also living with my wife and I. I want to know if there are any programs for disabled people or senior citizens to get a home loan.
?Mike, Greenwood, IN

A: Hello IN, check out an FHA loan. www.fha.com. See their loan guidelines on their website. Take care.

A: Dear Buyer,

I am a Realtor in California, not Indiana, and I don?t broker loans. However, I can tell you where I recommend going to educate yourself on lending. The FHA has a wealth of information on their website.

FHA stands for Federal Housing Administration; the FHA is an arm of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The primary focus of the FHA is to encourage homeownership in the United States.

This is a link to a page on the FHA?s website for Loan Tips: http://www.fha.com/hud-fha-02.cfm.

This is a link to a page on HUD?s website for information specifically for people with disabilities: http://portal.hud.gov/hudportal/HUD?src=/topics/information_for_disabled_persons.

You can also get a list of HUD-approved housing counseling agencies by calling HUD at (800) 569-4287. I believe the counseling is free.

Here?s a link to the HUD web page for more information: http://portal.hud.gov/hudportal/HUD?src=/program_offices/housing/sfh/hcc/counslng.

Another option is private lenders. The challenge with private lenders is that you will typically have to pay higher interest rates, pay points, and have a shorter loan term, all of which make payments higher.

I hope this information is helpful!

A: Dear Greenwood, Indiana- Great question to the right folks!!

CENTURY 21 helps home buyers every day find their lender of choice*?who will provide the proper loan for the client and property.

Please phone me toll free at 1-800-231-6719 and ask for Larry.

I look forward to getting you assigned to a Realtor to help you there in Greenwood! *Dodd-Frank Act prohibits Realtors from identifying loan types for properties or consumers
